 Phobias

and

Hypnotherapy

- the perfect match!

Is flying a bad experience for you?

Flying is obviously a completely un-natural act for human beings. Typical feelings that everyone feels to some extent are:

§       Lack of control and certainty
§        Afraid of heights and the obvious link to air travel
§        A severe dislike of being in a confined space

They are all emotions created from within and as such they can only be addressed with therapy that reaches the mind and typically the autonomic reactions that have been programmed into your behaviour during childhood, or as a result of previously experienced turbulent or anxiety-inducing bad flights.

You are not alone - one in four people have serious anxiety during some stage of the act of flying - from booking a flight on the Internet through to the act of waiting for your luggage at your destination airport, and especially during the flight itself - it can be a stressful experience for all but the most seasoned traveller.

Most clients I have helped to overcome this completely logical "phobia" have come to see me as a result of negative experiences they themselves have experienced on one or two previous flights. The "memories" of these almost traumatic or terrifying experiences have remained not just in that person's conscious mind but, most importantly, in the subconscious mind.

Given that one of the major roles of the subconscious is to protect us from harm or a repeat of any previous nervous, traumatic, or anxiety-inducing event or incident, it is hardly surprising that as you approach a potential repetition of a past trauma, our subconscious is duty-bound to remind us of what might happen again by replaying a whole gamut of nervous symptoms!

Because Hypnotherapy addresses the concerns of the Subconscious by communicating with it and gently negotiating with it to change its "program", it is the ideal therapy for ALL phobics. Most phobias can be resolved in as few as two or three sessions of hypnotherapy.

Other common phobias include fear of enclosed spaces (lifts, theatres, crowds), heights, spiders, flying insects, birds, slugs and snails, water (deep water, swimming), emetophobia (fear of being sick or of others being sick), thunder and/or lightning, needles, dentists, doctors / nurses, swallowing tablets, signing / writing in front of others - all of which I have encountered over 20 years and have been able to help resolve for the sufferers.

Some phobias can also cross over into othere areas, such as OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), paranoia, etc, such are their debilitating qualities if they become the focus of a phobic's life.
